Stephan Lawson
Mechanical Engineer

Stephan’s wanted to be an engineer since he first heard the word.

Creating mechanical designs that fit a client’s needs; designing small, tight tolerance assemblies; and working out a product’s manufacturing details are his bread and butter. Every day he abides by the credo: Make it simple, make it work.

He learned that philosophy from Otto Henze, founder of Penn Reels, the brand of high-quality fishing reels and tackle where Stephan worked his first job as an engineer. More recently, he designed spinal orthopedic products at Globus Medical, and his experience there enhances our medical design expertise.

Stephan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. His favorite product is the Brompton folding bicycle, and so it should come as no surprise that he likes to spend his spare time bicycling between cafes, bakeries, and home, where he likes to cook, brew, and make things work.

What's your favorite all-time product? Brompton folding bicycle And your second-choice occupation? Smithsonian Institution Security Guard Finish this sentence: Design is ... ... inanimate personality.
