Phila Product Design Firm Wins Three Prestigious
International Awards. Most Recognition in 10 Years of Appliance Industry Awards Program.
Philadelphia, PA - May 2, 2006 - Who's got a hot product design
idea? Bresslergroup, a full service product development firm
here, has three of them: 1) A smoke detector that records a parent's
voice to help wake kids in a fire emergency; 2) A sports watch
for rowers that uses natural rowing motion to calculate stroke
rate; 3) A device that scans fully clothed people to chart their
exact clothing size.
The 35-year-old, Philadelphia-based industrial design and engineering consulting
firm took three of only 12 available gold awards in this year's
Appliance Design Excellence International Awards Competition.
The winning product design ideas are featured in the May issue
of Appliance Design Magazine.
"It's a big deal to take three awards," said Richard Babyak, editor, Appliance
Design Magazine. It's the first time in the past ten years that one firm has
captured three of the top awards.
Bresslergroup created the winning consumer electronics appliance design, the Vocal Smoke Detector, for its client KidSmart. The two other winning Bresslergroup
clients are Nielsen Kellerman and its Cadence T1 Wristrate Watch (so popular
it's temporarily out-of-stock) and the Intellifit body scanning and measurement
system that uses high frequency microwaves to penetrate clothing but not skin
to chart exact clothing size.
"This recognition celebrates the dedication of our talented designers and also
the innovative spirit of our clients," said Peter Bressler, principal of Bresslergroup. "Recognition
at this level acknowledges that we've helped our clients create products for
the marketplace that really stand out and provide new value that consumers want."
An independent panel of three industrial design experts judged the entries. Evaluation
of the entries was based on four criteria: appearance, human factors, innovation
and technical merits. Photos and descriptions of winners appear in the May 2006
issue of Appliance Design Magazine.
