Keith S. Karn, PhD, at the HFES 2014 International Health Care Symposium

Keith S. Karn, PhD, Bresslergroup’s Director of User Research, moderated two panels at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society’s 2014 International Health Care Symposium, titled Leading the Way, in Chicago, March 16-19. The panels included, “Closing the Loop: Human Factors without the Human,” about what healthcare systems can learn from other industries with closed-loop systems that use feedback from sensors to guide control without human intervention. The second, “Mining Human Factors Gold in Post-Market Databases,” covered the potential of mining post-market data such as customer complaints and help-desk calls to help shape next-generation medical devices.

HFES‘s mission is “to promote the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds.”
