InfraScanner Handheld Hematoma Detector
Investigate
Our process began with investigation of user needs. This device is new to the world so understandability and ease were priorities. The device must be positioned in a range of locations around the scalp, often while the patient is lying down. Basic anthropometrics drove form development and location of interface elements.
Imagine
Infrascanner uses near infrared (NIR) technology for the rapid detection of bleeding in the brain. While CT Scans are currently the diagnostic standard for hematomas, many head trauma patients do not quickly receive a CT scan due to availability and cost issues. The Infrascanner addresses this unmet medical need for a simple, low-cost, accurate hematoma detection device for use in a variety of settings such as at the scene of an accident, hospital emergency rooms / ICU units, and military applications.
Implement
Bresslergroup worked closely with Infrascanner to develop an easy to understand and use device. Infrascanner handled all electronics development and Bresslergroup handled industrial design and mechanical engineering.
Impact
Infrascanner is in use in India. The device has received very good reviews and is being further integrated into medical practice. Introduction in the US and elsewhere is planned in the near term. |
