Implementation
Prototyping and testing results in a list of change orders for
final Implementation. Working in CAD, each part is detailed to
include draft, add production tolerances, and is generally made
ready for tooling and production. The SIERRA, while simple compared
to many competitive units, is still a complex electromechanical
device. As such a full range of parts were refined by the VIDAR
engineering team. Internal electronics, electromechanicals and
optics include custom PC boards, a lens, three mirrors, an array,
stainless steel rollers, and film feed/drive mechanism. Electronics
are housed in a stamped sheet metal case. Casework includes two
injection molded ABS parts (front and back), and two stamped
and painted sheet metal end plates. Feed and catch trays are
nickel-plated wireform parts, as is the wall mount bracket. Vidar’s
internal team members handle the vast majority of implementation
tasks and rely on our team members/or spot problem solving and
inputs on aesthetic implications of engineering and production
tradeoffs.
