Introduction
VIDAR (Herndon, VA) is a leading supplier of document and x-ray scanners. The company built its business serving architectural and engineering markets, but in the early 90s saw an opportunity to enter the medical market. The resulting VXR-12 film digitizer was a top loading x-ray scanner used to digitize and store medical x-rays. Since developing the VXR-12, Bresslergroup has worked with VIDAR to build the product line and their brand in the medical imaging market. VIDAR has expanded the line to include the five other scanners and the recently introduced Sierra – all of which follow the signature vertical format pioneered with the VXR-12. Bresslergroup has helped VIDAR maintain ease of use, sighting flexibility and visual brand vocabulary – all hallmarks of the market leading VIDAR brand. This evolution is represented by the Sierra which is 1/3 the weight of the competitive units and roughly 1/5 the overall volume. It is the first digitizer available for under $10,000 (US).
