Prototyping and Testing

Fabrication and testing of parts and assemblies happens throughout the development process. Our participation tends to be more on the front end, proving configurations via mock ups, and bread books. In the case of the VXR, breadboarding and proving our ability to consistently move the film past the scan heads was critical. As VIDAR moved through final engineering and prototyping they ran the devices through a battery of tests to fine tune the final design. The SIERRA consists of three major elements: internal electronics and optical elements; external plastic casework parts; and wireform feed/catch tray and mounting components. Critical optical components are mounted on a single aluminum extrusion for structural integrity and stability. Fabricating and testing this key subassembly was critical to overall system success and VIDAR ran a series of tests to validate the engineering effort.
