Refinement
The handle forms invite users to pick them up. Users commented
that they “looked comfortable.” And while the forms
are generous they are not visually bulky. The black matte material
hides the details of a rather complex form. So instead of trying
very hard to communicate “ergonomics” the
products prove their usability tactilely. We determined that
an overmolded grip was appropriate in terms of function, as well
as to distinguish the new line from the existing product line.
As form development moved forward we also refined our demonstrable
features per tool. Specifically, the scoop includes a “stand” that
holds the scoop head off the counter when set down. The shape
of the scoop was designed for softer and harder ice cream and
the ability to dig into the corners of rectangular cartons. The
rounded tip on the end of the cheese knife is useful for spreading
soft cheeses and condiments. The handle wraps over the top of
the blade providing leverage for the thumb or even a second hand.
The cheese knife features a hole pattern on the blade, which
allows effective cutting without cheese sticking to the blade.
