Research
The industrial design exploration began with detailed analysis
of human factors data, as well as intuitive dissection and documentation
of the grip, motion and handle orientation to the business end
of the tool. We also assembled consumer groups to observe use
with a range of competitive tools including cheese knives, ice
cream scoops, can openers, pizza cutters and garlic presses.
Users were video taped and interviewed after observing their
interaction with the range of tools. Then we asked them to rank
the existing tools by preference. This feedback was invaluable
and helped our product development team hone in on preferred
configurations, as well as identify existing product shortfalls.
