Prototyping and Testing

As with any development process, prototyping and testing the design was critical. Our formal preproduction prototyping phase uncovered areas where the design needed to be improved. Working closely with the production partner yielded opportunities to reduce part cost through subtle redesign and component selection. The prototypes were also used for ongoing compliance testing making ready for eventual UL and other test procedures once finished parts were produced. Formal evaluation of the user interface pointed out opportunities to further simplify user interaction and led to the finalization of recording voice prompts from the unit.
