Michael Barretta
Mechanical Engineer

Michael knew he wanted to be an engineer as soon as he got his first LEGO Technic set.

Today, as a mechanical engineer, he loves breaking problems into solvable pieces and the hands-on aspects of prototyping, building, and testing. In fact, iteration is his favorite part of the design process, and he finds it rewarding to watch projects evolve and mature.

Before joining Bresslergroup, Michael spent several years developing military equipment and bringing lighting fixtures from concept to reality. His areas of expertise include thermal design and management, electronics packaging, and CAD design and visualization. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University.

Outside of work, Michael’s favorite activities are drawing, tinkering with robotics, working on electronics projects, learning programming, and playing and designing video games. You might occasionally find him practicing his hidden talent: the Mummer’s Strut.

What's your favorite all-time product? The Arduino. It helped me and so many others discover a love for programming and electronics. If you could redesign anything, what would it be? The cellphone. There are so many shapes other than the rounded rectangle. What are you most curious about? Space exploration and aerospace design.
