Satyajit Balial
Senior Human Factors & Usability Researcher

Satyajit knows: to create an innovative, successful product, first listen to the users and understand their needs.

As a researcher at Bresslergroup, Satyajit works with clients to create usability testing scenarios and to turn user data and feedback into design recommendations. His engineering background allows him to analyze products and interactions from a technical perspective, while keeping user interests at the forefront.

Satyajit specializes in medical device design and biomedical engineering. He’s worked in healthcare consulting at Accenture LLP, in mechanical and human factors engineering at Bayer Healthcare, and as a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin. No matter the setting, Satyajit loves working in groups on brainstorming and ideation.

Satyajit earned his Bachelor’s in biomedical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and his Master’s in biomedical/medical engineering and medical device design at Carnegie Mellon University. When he first arrived in Philly, finding a local bar with good trivia and good beer were at the top of Satyajit’s Philadelphia to-do list.

What's your favorite product and why? Magnetic power connectors — for anything from laptops to deep fryers. It’s such a simple solution for both ease of use and safety concerns. If you could redesign anything, what would it be? College engineering curriculums — to be a little more design-centered. Finish this sentence: Design is ... … delicate but potent.
