The widespread adoption of new technologies causes major shifts across industries as well as in our collective behavior. The ubiquity of touchscreens with multi-touch functionality expanded consumers’ understanding of user interfaces beyond websites and software to include devices and appliances. This has dovetailed with the advent of the Internet of Things and a desire for more devices to be connected and smart.
Consumer expectations, user interfaces, and interaction design continue to evolve alongside leaps in technology. Creative Director, Interaction Design, Bill Horan, and Director of Engineering, JD Albert, collaborated on an article for Appliance Design magazine to explore how advances in screen (and beyond the screen) technology will influence interaction design.
