Mathieu Turpault, a Bresslergroup Managing Partner and Director of Design, was one of 20 speakers selected from a pool of more than 500 invited to speak at TEDxPhiladelphia 2014, the daylong multidisciplinary conference “championing great ideas.”
The conference was held Friday, March 28, at the Temple Performing Art Center on Temple University’s campus. It examined the theme, The New Workshop of the World. In the 1860s through early 1970s, Philadelphia was known as the “Workshop of the World.” TEDxPhiladelphia explored how today’s Philadelphia is reemerging as a “home for makers, entrepreneurs, artists, and a dizzying array of thinkers and doers,” who are creating a new and different era as a center for innovation with parallels to its industrial heyday. Turpault’s talk focused on the continued reinvention of industrial design from its earliest days through the present, when technology is leading to the disappearance of the physical artifact and ascendance of the digital experience.
The sold-out conference was livestreamed at several official events across the city.
